Extension of University Hospital Utrecht (UMC)
The University Medical Centre Utrecht (UCM Utrecht) is with its more than 12.000 staff members one of the biggest public health institutions in the Netherlands. The starting points for the design were visibility, clarity, efficiency and flexibility and based on this the EGM Architects have designed an efficient building containing plenty of natural light and fantastic views.

An expansion of the Radiology department at the UMC Utrecht were carried out in the year in 2004. To this the FSC certified Sapupira species is used in various places.

Sapupira is used for both interior and exterior door frames and doors as well as for window frames. Inside the Radiology department the species is also used for stairs and handrails. A transparent coating is applied to the wood to keep the natural look and the red brown color.
